Health Workforce Sector Update February 2020
on 25 FebruaryKia ora koutou,
Welcome to the first Health Workforce update for 2020. I hope you all had a chance to take a break and recharge over the holiday period.
It has been a busy start to the year in the Ministry, as it has been for all of you across the sector. Alongside progressing our own priorities, we’re supporting our colleagues in Public Health where we can, as they lead the response to COVID-19.
In this issue, we have updates on some of our key priority work programmes, including rural health workforce initiatives, sector leadership development and our review of health workforce funding. We also have information about the Ministry's Hauora Māori scholarships, and an update on progress of the Abortion Legislation Bill from our colleagues in Health System Improvement and Innovation.
In our December update, I introduced a number of new senior appointments in the Directorate. I’m pleased to say we now have all of those people on board. Some of you will have had the opportunity to meet, and I know the team are looking forward to meeting many more of you as we continue to work together this year.
Ngā mihi, nui,
Anna Clark
Deputy Director-General, Health Workforce
