2022 World Alzheimers Month
It was amazing to see so many different initiatives for World Alzheimers Month this year. From dance classes and memory walks, to presentations and community events, #worldalzmonth was celebrated all over Aotearoa. Thanks to everybody who supported this important month.

Dementia Leadership Group appointed
Congratulations to everybody who has been appointed to the Dementia Mate Wareware Leadership and Advisory Group (DLG) by Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora recently. We're confident the sector’s voice will be strong as we work towards an Aotearoa where people can get the help and support they need.

Dr Etuini Ma’u selected as 2022 Fellow
We're excited to share Dr Etuini Ma’u has been selected as the 2022 Alzheimers New Zealand Fellow. Dr Ma’u is a senior lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Auckland and consultant old age psychiatrist with Te Whatu Ora Waikato.

Global research highlights our failings
The latest World Alzheimer Report, by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), says the lack of post-diagnostic care for people living with dementia is a global problem. ADI estimates as many as 85 per cent of the 55 million people with dementia globally could be missing out on care.

Positive results reported from trial
There have recently been announcements about a new treatment, and we welcome any new developments in this difficult area. While it's still early days, you can find out more online and we'll keep an eye on this as it develops.
