You will provide exceptional patient care as part of a high-performing team in our Wakefield Specialist Centre.
About the role
As a Practice Nurse at Wakefield Hospital, Gynaecology Practice, you will be responsible for the consultant's clinical and non-clinical practice.
You will:
- provide a warm welcome to consultants, patients and other visitors to Wakefield Specialist Centre
- assist the consultant during clinics and provide nurse-led clinics
- plan care to meet the patient's needs, relevant standards and expected outcomes
- seek and follow medical colleagues' orders and directions
- complete post-operative and post discharge care and other such clinical tasks as required
- carry out all administration duties including managing bookings, answering phone calls and emails and maintaining documentation
- your practice will be in line with the code of conduct and professional boundaries of the nursing professional body
- ensure supply of medical supplies and equipment at Wakefield Specialist Centre
- implement and review policies and procedures on safe practice for handling dirty instruments and sterilisation practices
- liaises with the Infection Prevention Coordinator at Wakefield Hospital on appropriate matters to ensure infection risks are managed.
The is a permanent part-time job share position suitable for either a registered or enrolled nurse, 32 hours a fortnight, Thursday and Friday.
Located at Wakefield Hospital, Newtown, Wellington.
About you
You will have exceptional time management skills to manage a busy consultant's clinical and non-clinical operations.
You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences:
- Hold an annual practicing certificate
- Maintain up to date nursing professional development including CPR skills
- Outpatient clinic nursing experience
- Experience in Gynaecology is necessary
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills: excellent written and oral English
- The ability to work well in a team with a positive 'can do' attitude
- A minimum of three years New Zealand nursing experience
