CONSULTATION OPEN: Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2025/26 - 2027/28
on 26 AugustHave your say on the draft Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2025/26 to 2027/28
Tēnā koutou
Harm from gambling is a significant public health issue for our communities, and for individuals, families and whānau. As required by the Gambling Act 2003, every three years the Ministry of Health sets out a proposed strategy to prevent and minimise the harm caused by gambling.
Consultation on the draft Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2025/26 to 2027/28 is now open. This is an opportunity to have your say about:
- the draft Strategy: what we will achieve
- the draft Service Plan: how we will achieve it
- the draft funding levels and levy rates: how it will be funded.
Feedback from this consultation will help to develop an updated strategy submitted to the Gambling Commission. The Gambling Commission will undertake its own consultation and make recommendations to Government, and the new strategy and levy will take effect from 1 July 2025.
You can find more information on the Consultation page of the Ministry of Health website, where you can read the full consultation document, appendices and needs assessment, and access other supporting materials.
You can submit your responses online at https://consult.health.govt.nz/ or by email gamblingharm@health.govt.nz.
Submissions close at 5pm on Sunday 6 October 2024.

Please feel free to circulate this through your networks as we want to hear from anyone interested in preventing and minimising gambling harm, especially those people with specific viewpoints and lived experience.
