Register for Repositioning Dementia: What’s next? this World Alzheimers Month
on 6 SeptemberTēnā koe,
As you may know, September is World Alzheimers Month to help raise awareness for dementia mate wareware around the world – the theme for 2024 is tackling stigma.
As part of this, we’re delighted to invite you to join our fourth and final one-day event Repositioning Dementia: What’s next? On Tuesday 24 September.
We’ll explore our three kaupapa of the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan, research and human rights and the lived experience. We’re delighted Associate Minister of Health Hon Casey Costello will open this event for us!
We have a jam-packed line up of speakers, including Dr Ngaire Kerse who will launch the World Alzheimer Report 2024 in Aotearoa New Zealand. The report focuses on global attitudes to dementia mate wareware and will officially be released on World Alzheimers Day on Saturday 21 September.
We’ll also have some real insight into how stigma can affect the dementia mate wareware journey including stories from the Alzheimers NZ Lived Experience Advisory Group and Milou Barrett and her sons – aged 13 and 15 – supporting their husband and father through Young Onset Dementia.
We know dementia mate wareware is only one of the many challenges our ageing population is facing, so this is a great opportunity to join many of our colleagues from the wider sector for this important kōrero. We do hope you can join us!
We have lots of other activities lined up for World Alzheimers Month, and you can find out more and get involved on our website and social media.
Ngā mihi
Catherine Hall (she/her)
Chief Executive
