Introduction:
I have been nursing for over 40 years! ( I started young). I have worked in many settings including mental health and school based nursing.
I have been supervising for the last 10 years and my focus is on how to make nursing great for nurses.
To this end, myself and a group of peer supervisors lobbied the Nursing Council of New Zealand requesting for professional supervision to be acknowledged as professional development. I am pleased to announce that we were successful and now you can claim an hour of professional development when you attend and reflect on your supervision.
My next goal albeit larger and more challenging is to have supervision available to all nursing staff should the wish to have it, especially those on the front line.
