Introduction:
A significant part of my clinical experience has been in acute care environments including general intensive care, coronary care, and cardiothoracic care. In recent years I have been in nursing coordinator and nurse educator roles at a private surgical hospital in Christchurch.
The manaakitanga of the nurse educator role led me to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision last year as much of the educator role was providing reflective guidence to nurses. The Post Grad cert provided the essential theoretical background necessary to provide professional supervision, but I believe it is my enthausiasm, understanding and interest of both people and nursing issues that enables me to provide effective supervision for nurses. I find it inspiring to assist nurses to further develop their skills and expertise in nursing practice and it is a pleasure to offer professional supervision.
As nurses we have many demands clinically and emotionally placed on us and professional supervision provides a much needed avenue to reflect on our practice and enable us to stay current, accountable and engaged.
Professional Supervision with me provides a personal, confidential space for expression and exploration of your professional practice in a safe environment. The first session is an information session regarding the process and is free of charge.
